Help Me Help You - What to Expect from Tech Help

One of the certainties in life are that you are going to experience computer problems.  When these problems arise the way that you react to this problem will usually determine how fast you will be back up and running.  Calling for help when you are having a computer problem can be a very frustrating experience.  I have worked as Technical Support jobs and found that there are certain things that you can do to get through a bad computer problem quickly:

1. Take a general computer class - If you are using your computer as the main tool for your business, you should have a general idea of how your computer works.  Taking a computer class at a junior college will give you the knowledge to be able to navigate through issues you experience and know how to explain the problems you are having to a Tech when the need arises.

2. Know what you don't know - Don't spend countless hours trying to fix an issue that you have no idea how to fix.   You may cause more damage and lengthen the time that it takes to fix the problem.

3. Write down error messages - When speaking to a Technical Support person error messages are key.  If  you write down the error message(s) in full, you will find that your Support person will probably have knowledge of the issue and can fix it quickly.
